My Style: Fall, Hurry Up

Dress: H&M
Cardigan: Bobeau (Nordstrom)
Belt: Forever21
Shoes: Nine West
Earrings: Nordstrom

I'm going to miss this backyard a lot once we move. It was perfect for taking outfit photos, laying outside and reading a book, and I can't forget about mowing it! Really gonna miss that, haha. Our new place has a tiny little yard, but not large enough for outfit photos. That means I'm gonna have to brave the outside world with my tripod and pray nobody sees me. That, or have to bribe Tommy into taking pictures. We shall see.

This week was a good one. I got to hang with my dad on Sunday and celebrated my sister's 18th birthday on Wednesday. We did a little shopping and I bought two pairs of shoes that so far don't absolutely kill my wide feet. Oh happy day!

It's finally starting to cool down, and I couldn't be more excited. Move over summer, fall is coming! Here in the pacific northwest our summers are fairly short and mild, so my summer wardrobe is pretty minimal. My collection of sweaters, scarves, boots and tights? Abundant, and ready to go!

What are you most excited about for fall? I can't wait for hot coffee drinks!

My Style: Black, White & Stripes All Over

Blouse: Kensie (Macy's)
Skirt: Tee by Big Star (Macy's)
Necklace: Francesca's
Shoes: Urban Outfitters

There are a few reasons why I could never be a "real" fashion blogger. One of them is all my stuff is usually bought on sale, so it's tricky to link back to items. Also, I just don't think I have enough clothes. I would be really interested in seeing fashion bloggers closets...they must be huge! But the main reason is dressing up in cute "blog-worthy" clothing
everyday must be exhausting! I've gotta have jean and t-shirt days every now and then.

Oh, and one more thing. Sometimes it's just weird to see an outfit on your body in pictures. I feel like a picture gives a pretty good representation of how people see you, which can be a little surprising. Sometimes what I thought looked good in the mirror suddenly doesn't look quite as flattering, or the opposite! Any other fashion bloggers have this experience?

It might sound a little boring, but black and white is one of my favorite color combos to wear. It's just so easy and makes mixing patterns really simple. I'm also a huge fan of pops of color, and black and white outfits set that up perfectly. What are you favorite color combos to wear?

My Style: Mint & Mermaids

Top: Mine (that's the brand...haha)
Necklace: Macy's
Shoes: Lucky Brand (old)
Jeans: Vigoss

"The Little Mermaid," was my favorite Disney movie when I was little, by far. I would watch it almost every morning and wished I was a mermaid so badly. I watched it for the first time in years a while ago, and had mixed feelings about it. Of course I still enjoyed it, but the message seemed a little iffy. "Hey girls, you don't need a voice, just rely on your good looks to get the guy!"

This message is probably lost on little kids, but it did make me wonder if it manifests somehow in the future. Anyway, for some reason this outfit kinda reminded me of The Little Mermaid...must be the color of the shirt or something. What was your favorite Disney movie growing up?

My Style: A Little Bit Minnie

Blouse: Urban Outfitters
Skirt: MADE (Macy's)
Shoes: Franco Sarto
Belt: Forever21
Purse: Francesca's

When I first laid eyes on this skirt, I told myself I didn't need it. And of course, well, I don't. But as I watched it go more and more on sale (one of the pros and cons of working at the mall) I was able to rationalize it. Yes, polka dots are starting to take over my closet. But it's black and white and will go with anything, I can wear it with tights for fall, and it has the best  little swing to it. See, I just convinced you to get it too! Hah.

It's so crazy to think July is half way done. Fall will be here before we know it, and then the holidays. Tommy and I are moving into a new place the 1st of September (also Tommy's birthday) and I'm really excited about it. I will definitely miss our little house with its huge kitchen, yard, garage and privacy. But it will be nice to get a fresh start in a place that doesn't have so many issues.

On a totally unrelated note, have you seen this video of Ryan Gosling seeing his face on a dishtowel? Haha, so good. I think that's a good note to end on.

My Style: Jewel Toned

Top: Forever21
Skirt: Nordstrom
Belt: Delia's
Shoes: Franco Sarto
Scarf: Thrifted
Necklace: Consigned

Maxi skirts are a girls best friend. I'm not sure why I only have one...they are the most comfortable and easy thing ever! Definitely need to find a black one and wear it everyday. Style posts are about to get real repetitive guys, haha.

My sister is visiting today, so we are going to be crafting and maybe doing some baking. Excited! Because of that, I'm gonna keep this post short and hang out with her. Have an amazing Thursday!

Oh, and if you haven't already I would love for you to take my reader survey!

My Style: Easy Living

Top: Forever21 (similar)
Skirt: Anthropologie (old)
Shoes: Franco Sarto (TJ Maxx)
Earrings: Francesca's

This top is definitely my new favorite piece in my closet. I love it because it makes you feel instantly pretty. Oh, you haven't washed your hair in three days and you have a huge zit on your forehead? Doesn't matter once you put on this lace top! Instantly pulled together. I tried to hunt it down on Forever21 so you could all have this magical piece in your closet, but it appears to have sold out. But, I wouldn't be surprise if this insta-pretty effect works with  other lace tops as well.

This weekend was Western's spring graduation, and it's super crazy to think it's already been one year since I graduated college. I feel like I really need to start figuring stuff out, like you know, what to do with my life! Ahh. Scary stuff. I have gotten pretty comfortable with where I'm at, which may not be a good thing. My everyday routine has become really easy, which makes me think I need to step out of my comfort zone a little and shake things up.

My Style: Emerald Twirls

Top: Forever21 (similar)
Skirt: Collective Concepts (Nordstrom, I got mine at Nordstrom Rack)
Boots: Corso Como (Nordstrom)
Necklace: Forever21

Some skirts you just gotta twirl in, and this is definitely one of them. I can't wait to wear it with some sandals when the weather finally warms up! It has been so dreary lately, and I'm ready for a few days of sunshine. Next week is supposed to be beautiful, yay!

Any Arrested Development fans out there? What do you think of the new season? Tommy and I watched it in two days, and have now started watching it again. Overall I thought it was pretty good, but it did take a while to pick up. I'm definitely liking it much better the second time around. There are so many things that didn't make sense the first time. My favorite episodes were probably the first Tobias episode, and the Lucille episode. Can't wait for the movie!

the dream of the 90's

Dress: Mystree (consigned)
Necklace: Francesca's
Belt: Delia*s
Sandals: Franco Sarto (TJ Maxx)

Tommy and I got back yesterday from a short trip to Portland. It was a lot of fun to explore a new city, eat some new food and visit some friends. Highlights included the Japanese Gardens, Salt & Straw ice cream (we ate it twice!), bringing a huge box of Voodoo donuts home, and visiting a few breweries.

I wore this on our first day in Portland which we spent visiting our hotel bar, eating dinner at Deschutes Brewery, walking around downtown, visiting Powell's Books and eating a pint of Salt & Straw ice cream in our hotel bathrobes while watching Game of Thrones. It was perfect after a long day of driving.

Usually when taking trips I have to pack about five more outfit options than I really need. I just hate being limited! I mean, what if I spill something on my shirt, or it starts pouring and I have no boots? But then if I bring boots, I need jeans for boots, socks, and probably a sweater cause it's raining. See what I mean? Serious first world problems. Anyway, I was pretty proud of myself because I planned my outfits ahead of time and only brought an overnight bag (that was so full I couldn't zip it...but still!).

tides of turquoise

Blazer: Kensie
Tee: Kensie (similar)
Jeans: Else
Boots: Corso Como
Purse: Nordstrom
Necklace: Lucky Brand

Yesterday Tommy and I swung by the docks to take these pictures before getting some tacos and margaritas. So yummy, but dang, margaritas are basically a hangover in a glass. A delicious, delicious, hangover. Damn you sugar.

This blazer might be my new favorite piece in my wardrobe. It actually fits around the chest area and has polka dots on the inside! Score. I also love the color, it's so fresh and springy. My only issue is finding things in my dark, jewel-toned closet to wear with it!

I've got two weeks of vacation coming up on May 12th, yay! It looks like it's going to be a stay-cation, which will be perfect for finishing some projects, cleaning the house, and spending time with family. I'm counting down the days!

My Style: Navy Waves

Dress: Urban Outfitters

Last week was crazy. Busy is good, but I'm looking forward to returning to a more routine pace.  Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

warming up

Dress: Bar III (Macy's
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters
Earrings: Forver 21
Tights: Target
Boots: Corso Como
Bag: Old Navy
Jacket: Delia's

Uff da! It's been a long day and I'm wiped out. It's that time again at the Clinique counter (gift with purchase!) and while it's fun, it's also extremely exhausting. Today I worked with about 75 clients with no time to stop. It makes the day fly by, but it's really draining. I passed out on Tommy's bed with Atticus around 11, which for me is pretty early. This picture is kinda embarrassing, but also kinda great. New favorite for sure.

While I was still in go mode yesterday, I talked Tommy into taking some outfit pictures ("Hey baaaabe...wanna go to the park really fast, then go get dinner? eh eh?') and it felt so good to get a ray of sunshine. Sometimes I'm a summer scrooge, but it's the little things like a warm car and iced coffee that remind me that spring/summer are pretty great.

After snapping these pictures we enjoyed some sushi on a really awkwardly placed table, and I tried saki for the first time. Not bad! Not my first choice, but not bad. We splurged and tried  fried avocado as well, and it was just as good as you might think.

Anybody else counting down the days till Game of Thrones this Friday? Ahhh! So excited,

third dots a charm

Dress: Nordstrom
Zip up: Nordstrom
Jacket: Target
Earrings: Little Black Bag
Scarf: Target
Shoes: Consigned

Even though this is my third outfit post in a row including polka dots, I swear I don't wear them everyday. That being said, if I could wear them everyday I probably would! They just make me happy. Do you have any prints that you just can't stay away from?

I first saw this jacket online and really wanted to order it, but there are just some items that are tricky to buy without trying them on. For me, jackets fit into the "tricky" category. So while I was picking up a plethora of random items at Target, I was lucky enough to spot it! It's the perfect Pacific Northwest jacket because it's lightweight and rain resistant. The weather has been crazy lately (sun one minute, hail the next) so layers are important!

Tommy and I have been looking to move for a while now. Even though I love our little old house, it has had a lot of problems. Other than craigslist, anybody know of a good website to find rentals?

business on top

Jacket: Forever21
Shirt: Forever21
Pants: Else
Necklace: Forever21
Boots: Corso Como

So, ladies with a larger bust, you understand my love/hate relationship with button down shirts. On one hand, they are super universal and cute. On the other hand, the second (or third) button needs constant attention and reaching the top shelf isn't that comfortable. I guess I don't really have a point other than it sucks. Don't worry, I'm in the process of calling the wahh-bulance :). Do any of you top-gifted ladies have any tips for me? Maybe brands that fit well on top?

Clinique gift with purchase in on the way, so life is about to get really busy. Yuck. Luckily we got Game of Thrones starting on Easter Sunday (sorry family, I'm busy watching HBO), and other good things on the horizon. Let's go.
